My Dream of The Great Gatsby

I had to read this book in high school for AP English Lit and boy it was a trip. Seeing the film with Paul Rudd and reading the book, there is a lot of themes and ideas that were explored in it.

One of those themes was the way Jay Gatsby presented himself in order to gain Daisy's approval with the rich fabrics and yet she was the walking contradiction.

I remember the idea of whites not being dirty was significant of the wealthy and of money. It showed good faith, purity, and power.

I loved the fashion of the 20s to be honest. West Egg and East Egg near Great Neck. The party central of the New York Elite and crashers to chill out during the weekends.

Flappers and hats, yumm. Materialism was a theme and the American Dream to be achieved but lets not forget about the incredible 20s style evolution.

I can not help but think of Coco Chanel, Paco Rabenne, Paul Poiret, & Elsa Schiaparelli. Classic. Classic. Classic. Id also say Dior and YSL in a way, but they did not exist in this time as of yet.

So I thank F Scott Fitz and his lovely wife dubbed as queen of the flappers in 1920, Ms. Zelda Fitz (nee Sayre.)
